OpTic have won CyberPowerPC Extreme Gaming Series Spring 2017 after beating Misfits 2-1 in the grand final (14-16 on Cache, 19-15 on Train, and 16-14 on Mirage).
The online North American event which featured a $15,000 prize pool has been completed over the course of two days. There were eight teams in attendance and the tournament had a best-of-three single elimination playoff format.
OpTic reached the grand final after beating CLG Academy in the quarter finals and Splyce in the semis—both with 2-0 scorelines. Misfits, on the other hand, secured wins against Denial and Ghost to become OpTic's opponent.
The grand final was a close affair as all maps went to the thirtieth round and the second map was decided in overtime. Misfits won Cache 16-14 and had a 10-5 CT-side half on Train. OpTic were able to come back and take the match to overtime. OpTic got all the rounds in overtime, winning the map 19-15 as Tarik "tarik" Celik posted a 35:21 KDR and a 1.64 rating.
Despite Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan's effort in the last map—Mirage—OpTic closed out the last map 16-14 and won the tournament, earning $9,000.
